Nación en Budapest, Hungría, el 9 de Noviembre de 1929. De ascendencia ´judía en 1944 fue deportado a Auschwitz y de allí a Buchenwald, donde fue liberado en 1945. En 1975 su primera novela "Sorstalanság" fue publicada. Trata acerca de sus experiencias en los campos de concentración. Galardonado con el Premio Nobel de Literatura 2002. Was born in Budapest on 9th November 1929. He is of Jewish descent. 1944 he was deported to Auschwitz and from there to Buchenwald, where he was liberated in 1945. In 1975 Kertészs first novel, Sorstalanság (Fateless, 1992), was published, a work based on his experiences in Auschwitz and Buchenwald. Kertész was awarded the Nobel Prize in Literature 2002.
